Well, the FRESHERS week is over now (it was on friday! pheewwww!). So i thought i'd put updates on what happened throughout my week (day by day). On sunday night, i was really nervous and excited at the same time as i presume everyone else was. It was just like going to a new place, meeting new people, doing something NEW!. I know i am indecisive and i have changed my degree course several times after applying but with this one, i think i will be fine with it. So here i go, starting with monday.
MONDAY : - My session was for 9 am, so i had to get up quite early so that i can be ready and be able to catch an early train and just be there on time. I think i sort of missed the O'clock train but managed to catch the 15 mins after one. Which led to me being late for a few minutes but it wasnt too bad. So as i entered the stopford building, i sort of was led the way to the lecture theatre so that was good. As i sat down, i met someone who was doing pharmacology i think. The lecturer began her talk, with telling us there was a quiz (which there wasnt) and just gave us an overview on what would be happening throughout the freshers week. Afterwards, we met with our programme director, who i have to say is PRETTY COOL!! We sort of chose our optional units ( for me, i chose two chemistry ones, Microbiology, Neurobiology, pharmacology, Anatomy &Physiology). I met a couple of few friendly people which was nice. Then afterwards, i had to go for completing my registration and getting my swipe (student) card. The wait was pretty long and i was sort of getting agitated. My student photo wasnt photogenic but i can deal with that. So that was monday for you.
TUESDAY - So today, my session was a little later so i left a little late. We had a talk from our education board, telling us about university and our faculty. Afterwards, i managed to get my hands on my VERY OWN labcoat! yayyyyy......i am glad because during our a level chemistry labs, we had used lab coats and often i didnt quite find my size so that was uncomfortable. Although the labcoat costed me £20, it was worth it i suppose :)
WEDNESDAY - We had a couple of talks from our faculty too. Also, we had a chance to have lunch with our personal tutors (which for me was our programme director so YAYYYYYYYyy for that!). During this, i managed to meet a few more people :). Afterwards, we had our very first university trip together to a greyhound race nearby. It was quite a nice day out i suppose :)
THURSDAY - Today, we didnt really have much today apart from meeting with our PASS group, during which we had to make a fashion piece relative to Science (out of newspaper) and we came out with PIRATE NURSE......our group named = tRNA = (The robot nurse Arrr!) clever eh! Later on, we headed for a play arranged by our faculty which was based upon Bioethics. It was pretty interesting to watch that as we had an oppurtunity to interact during the play too. From this we also had our very first assignment (which i still need to finish! :( ). Oh and i was hoping to go to the freshers fair throughout the week, but the faculty kept us quite busy that i didnt really get much time apart from 20 mins today, during which i only managed to join the photography society. I am intending to contact the ART and Writing societies to join these too so lets see.
FRIDAY - Today we only had one (Library) session, so that wasnt too bad. However, i should have gone to have a wander around the library, which i didnt and so i would probably have to do that next week. Later in the day, i had to go back to my college to collect my art crswk and ALSo (Exciting news!) = I had to settle upon my art deal! YES.....i had my very first art sale, so that was pretty cool as it sort of gave me confidence in my work.
Well, that was it for the week. My lectures and (busy work) would officially be starting from next week so lets see how that goes. I am hoping that it would be an amazing year and hopefully i would be able to gain quite alot. Oh, and i still need to apply for volunteer work around some hospitals so that needs to be done too. Anyways, i better get back to my assignment and CLASSIC FM so till next time....Take care :)

Hey you can find HCA jobs on this website http://www.jobs.nhs.uk/ for voluntary work you need to contact the PALS service at your local hospital
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention that we had a placement talk today as its an option for us. I came out of it thinking the portfolio will just stress me out and isn’t really worth it. Plus if the degree you would get with the placement year is applied I cant imagine the universities looking favourably on it.
ReplyDeleteif you are on tsr pm me im brokenangel on there. That way ill get back to you quicker than leaving comments on my blog
